Flower Mound Edges Hebron 1-0 in Regional Final Behind Bella Flores 2-Hitter
A single run proved enough Thursday evening as Flower Mound advanced past Hebron with a 1-0 victory in a regional final played at L.D. Bell.
The Jaguars manufactured their lone run in the bottom of the first inning when Nahla Hurst slapped a ball up the middle that rolled to the wall, allowing her to hustle into third with a triple. Starting pitcher Bella Flores then drove in Hurst to give Flower Mound the early advantage.
From there, Flores dominated in the circle. The right-hander struck out Kinsley Huckabee with high heat, then fanned Molly Crowder as part of an 8-strikeout performance. Flores scattered just two hits over seven innings to complete the shutout.
Hebron threatened in its final at-bat when Alyssa Summers drove a ball up the middle, but shortstop Julisa Balderas made a backhand stop and threw to first for the out to seal the win. Flores' complete game 2-hitter sent the Jaguars to the next round.
