Grandview Softball Dominates Columbus in Game 1 Regional Series

May 28, 2026
Defending 3A-DI champ Grandview beat Columbus 9-3 in Game 1, powered by Madi Doty's dominant pitching and a three-run homer.

Defending their 3A Division 1 state championship is no small task, but Grandview's Zebras made a strong opening statement in their regional series against Columbus, rolling to a 9-3 Game 1 victory.

Texas commit Madi Doty was the story on both sides of the ball. In the circle, she kept Columbus off-balance throughout the contest, limiting the offense and controlling the pace of the game. At the plate, she delivered the decisive blow — a three-run home run to straightaway center that pushed Grandview's lead to 5-0 and effectively put the game out of reach.

The Zebras got on the board early, with Ally May grounding one back up the middle in the first inning to help Grandview build a 2-0 lead after one. Kenna Collins added to the damage later, lining a pitch between third and short to plate another run as Grandview pulled away for the 9-3 final.

With a trip back to state on the line, the Zebras have the pitching, the lineup, and the championship pedigree to make another deep run.
