Liberty Wins 4A D2 State Softball Championship Over Brock 12-0

June 3, 2026
Liberty defeats Brock 12-0 to win the UIL 4A Division II state softball championship, overpowering a Brock team that started six freshmen.

Six freshmen in a state championship game is a remarkable story on its own — but Liberty made sure the scoreboard told a different one. The Eagles rolled past Brock 12-0 to claim the UIL 4A Division II state softball title, delivering a dominant performance that left little doubt about who the best team in the classification was.

Brock had its moments defensively. Pitcher Alison Coleman made a sharp play on a comebacker to escape early trouble, and right fielder Laynie Marriott went up high to haul in a ball in right field. The Eagles showed fight, but the youth of their lineup — six freshmen in the starting unit — was ultimately no match for Liberty's firepower.

The 12-0 final sealed the championship for Liberty, capping a run through the 4A D2 bracket and adding a state title to the program's résumé.
