Flower Mound Shuts Out Defending Champ Waco Midway in State Semifinal

Defending state champion Waco Midway had no answer for Bella Flores. The Flower Mound pitcher was masterful in the circle during the UIL softball state semifinals, holding Midway to just two hits and striking out three in a 4-0 Jaguars victory.

The game was scoreless heading into the sixth inning before Flower Mound finally broke through. Flores delivered herself, lining a single to right that scored Alexa Pierce from third to put the Jaguars on top 1-0. The lead grew quickly from there — Avery Brock dumped a liner into left-center to plate Adi Bicknell and Kaelen Landry, pushing the advantage to 4-0.

Flores closed out the sixth with a strikeout, capping a dominant performance against one of the state's most decorated programs. Catcher Macy Mays also made her presence felt defensively, gunning down a Midway runner attempting to steal in the third inning to help preserve the shutout.

The win sends Flower Mound to the state championship game after eliminating the reigning title holders.
