Forney Softball Reaches State Title Game With 7-5 Win Over Denton Guyer

Seven runs in a single inning was the difference. Forney's Lady Rabbits erupted for a seven-run fourth inning to take control of Game 2 against Denton Guyer, ultimately winning 7-5 and advancing to the state title game.

The big inning started building when Bailee McGhee drove one over the left fielder's head with the bases loaded and two runs already in. The ball set off a chain reaction — two more runners scored, and when the throw got away from the catcher, Kylan Price slid home to make it 5-0. Juliana Tamburine added another run on a single to left, and by the time the inning was over, Forney had sent seven batters across the plate.

Denton Guyer refused to fold. The Lady Wildcats answered with four runs in the top of the fifth, with Chloe O'Brien doubling just inside the right field line to drive in two and cut the deficit to 7-4. Guyer had the tying run on base in the seventh with the bases loaded, but Forney closer Avery Pitts struck out the final batter to end the threat and preserve the win.

The 7-5 final sends Forney to the state championship game.
