Corsicana Sweeps Hillcrest 9-1, Advances to Regional Semifinals vs Lovejoy

A six-run fourth inning propelled Corsicana to a 9-1 victory over Hillcrest in Game 2, completing a series sweep and punching the Tigers' ticket to the regional semifinals against Lovejoy.

Hillcrest entered the matchup facing elimination after dropping the series opener, but Corsicana's offense proved too much to overcome. The Tigers built an early 3-1 lead after two innings when Gabe Edgar ripped a hit past the third baseman, allowing Brody Dobbs to round third and score.

The fourth inning sealed Hillcrest's fate. Jordan Tamez rocketed a pitch into the gap, scoring Easton Autrey from third to push the lead to 6-1. Maddux Dill followed with a single to left field that brought Tamez home, and Dobbs added another RBI single to plate Dill. The six-run frame gave Corsicana a commanding 8-1 advantage.

The Tigers tacked on one more run to close out the 9-1 final and advance to the next round of the playoffs.
