THSBCA All-Star Game: North Tops South 3-2 Behind DFW Stars

July 7, 2026
DFW seniors shine at the THSBCA All-Star Game in Round Rock as the North beats the South 3-2. Aledo's Landon Barnes earns MVP honors.

Dell Diamond in Round Rock served as the backdrop for the THSBCA All-Star Game, bringing together the top Class 5A and 6A senior talent in Texas — and the DFW area had plenty of representation on the North squad.

Aledo's Landon Barnes set the tone early with a single to get the North on the board, and he would later come around to score on an RBI single from Frenship's Rhyan Mongelli, who carried a .445 batting average into the showcase. That hit made it 1-0 North.

Prosper Walnut Grove's Joshua Viars extended the lead with a sharp single up the middle, driving in the second run to push it to 2-0. South Grand Prairie's Zach Sheppler then grounded one to the left side, and a slightly errant throw from the shortstop allowed Viars to score, giving the North a 3-0 cushion.

The South made it interesting late, but the North's defense held firm. Sheppler, who contributed offensively, also came up with a diving stop at first base that proved critical in preserving the 3-2 victory.

For Barnes, the All-Star game was a fitting sendoff — he leaves Aledo with a state title on his résumé and was named MVP of the THSBCA All-Star Game to close out his high school career.
