Waxahachie Baseball Defeats Sachse 5-1 Behind Strong Pitching Performance
Two of the hottest teams in the Dallas-Fort Worth area met on the diamond with Waxahachie riding a 12-game winning streak and Sachse winners of 10 of its last 11 games.
The Indians struck first in the opening frame when Hayden Zandt dumped a hit into left field, bringing in Kayson Weyrauch to give Waxahachie a 1-0 advantage. The lead grew to 3-0 in the third inning after Sachse's Alex Moreno uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Julian Duarte to cross home plate.
Sachse cut into the deficit in the fourth when Julian Moreno executed a safety squeeze to plate Greyson Darden, making it 3-1. The Mustangs threatened to add more in the inning when Aaron Silva singled through the hole into right field, but Luke Ballard fired a strike from the outfield to gun down Landon Parks at the plate. Gramm Davis then struck out the final batter to end the threat.
Waxahachie added insurance in the bottom of the fourth as Weston Davis ripped a double down the right field line, scoring Drew Paulino to extend the lead to 5-1. Jax Robinson closed out the game in the seventh inning, striking out the side to seal the victory.
The Indians pushed their winning streak to 13 games with the 5-1 final.
