Ennis Walks Off Corsicana 5-4 to Claim District 15-5A Baseball Title

Ennis walks off Corsicana 5-4 on a Beau Rudd single to win the District 15-5A baseball title, their first since 2023.

The District 15-5A baseball title came down to the final at-bat in Ennis, and the Lions delivered. Hosting Corsicana with the championship on the line, Ennis survived a late go-ahead home run from University of Texas commit Easton Autrey to walk off 5-4 in seven innings and claim their first district crown since 2023.

Autrey was the story for much of the night. After Ennis took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Kevin Rodriguez single that scored Keno Castillo, Autrey answered in the second with a no-doubter to right field that put Corsicana ahead 3-1. Ryder Newman's two-run single in the third tied it at 3, but Autrey wasn't finished. With the score still knotted in the seventh, Ennis elected to pitch to him again—and he launched his 10th home run of the season to right center, giving Corsicana a 4-3 lead heading to the bottom of the inning.

Ennis responded immediately. A wild throw on a Diego Mireles comebacker allowed Castillo to score from second and tie the game at 4. Corsicana then walked two batters to load the bases, setting the stage for Beau Rudd. His single glanced off Autrey's glove at third, Mireles crossed the plate, and the Lions had their walk-off.
