Rockwall-Heath Wins Inaugural 7-on-7 State Championship 25-6 Over Houston Memorial

July 7, 2026
Rockwall-Heath wins the inaugural 7-on-7 state championship 25-6 over Houston Memorial, capping a dominant tournament run as the top seed.

Entering bracket play as the top seed after a strong pool play run, Rockwall-Heath backed up that billing with one of the most complete tournament performances of the weekend. The Hawks rolled through the Dallas Cowboys bracket with a 24-0 shutout of El Dorado — with former Cowboy DeMarcus Ware on hand to present championship rings — before setting their sights on the prize they really came for.

Against Houston Memorial in the state championship, Heath found themselves trailing 6-0 before sophomore Olivia Richard turned a shovel pass from quarterback Haley Harper into a 45-yard touchdown, breaking multiple tackles down the sideline to give the Hawks a 7-6 halftime lead. Harper added a 14-yard strike across the middle to Laurelea Carlyle late in the second half to push the lead to 13-6.

The defense closed it out emphatically. Heath recorded two pick-sixes in the final two minutes — including one by Leah Wilson — to seal a 25-6 victory and the inaugural state championship. Harper was a consistent force throughout the tournament, connecting on a 20-yard spiral to Diamond Gords in the El Dorado game and orchestrating an offense that also featured freshman Charlotte Traa, who contributed both a halfback touchdown pass and a pick-six return. A standout season for the Rockwall-Heath Hawks.
