North Crowley 42, Waxahachie 17 | Panthers Make a Statement
Months of anticipation came down to one night, and North Crowley left no doubt. The Panthers dismantled Waxahachie 42-17 in a marquee regular-season showdown, delivering the kind of performance that turns heads across the state.
Running back Kiante Ingram set the tone early, taking a handoff around the right end, cutting toward the pylon, and finishing a 33-yard touchdown run. He ended the night with 157 yards and two scores, consistently finding room against the Indians' defense.
G'Yrell Smith added another dimension to the North Crowley attack. The speedy back turned a delay handoff into a burst through the line, one of three touchdown runs on the evening. By the end of the second quarter, the Panthers had built a commanding 21-0 lead.
Waxahachie showed some life before halftime when Jerry Meyer III took a handoff, absorbed a hit, and still managed to weave his way into the end zone from 28 yards out, cutting the deficit to 21-7 at the break. But the Indians could not sustain the momentum.
North Crowley put the game away in the second half when quarterback Jacob Torres hit DeMario Mays on a slant route. Once Mays found open field, there was no catching him — 84 yards to the end zone. The Panthers closed it out 42-17, a result that will be noticed well beyond the DFW area.
