North Crowley Shuts Out Aledo 26-0 in Dominant 6A Opener

First-year head coach Demarcus Harris couldn't have drawn it up any better. North Crowley opened their 6A campaign with a commanding 26-0 shutout of Aledo, a program making its own transition into the 6A ranks, and the Panthers controlled every phase of the game from the opening drive.

Jacob Torres got the scoring started early, connecting with Damarion Mays on a 55-yard touchdown strike after Mays slipped behind his defender. North Crowley missed the extra point but led 6-0, and the tone was already set.

The Panther defense then delivered one of the night's signature moments. Linebacker Braylen Cunningham read a screen pass perfectly, stepped in front of the intended receiver, made one man miss, and took it to the house — a pick-six that pushed North Crowley to 13-0 before the first quarter was out.

Torres kept the offense rolling in the second quarter, engineering a screen to G'Yrell Smith who fought through a defender and scored to make it 20-0. Torres then uncorked a 65-yard touchdown pass to Kade Smith, a well-placed deep ball that put the Panthers up 26-0. He finished the night completing 21 passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns.

Aledo's offense never found its footing. The Panther defensive front swarmed Bearcats running back Tre Williams all night, recording multiple sacks and holding Aledo to minus-10 rushing yards for the game — a number that underscores just how thoroughly North Crowley controlled the line of scrimmage.

The 26-0 final gives Harris a clean sheet in his first game leading the program, and signals that North Crowley's defense, in particular, could be a force in 6A this season.
