Midlothian Heritage Walks Off Walnut Grove 2-1 in 5A-D2 Baseball

A 5A-Division 2 baseball matchup between Walnut Grove and Midlothian Heritage came down to the final frame, with the Jaguars securing a 2-1 walk-off victory at home.

Heritage got on the board first in the opening inning when Jaiden Mitchell hit a hopper to third base. With only a play available to first, Bailey Huber crossed the plate to give the Jaguars a 1-0 lead. Collin Vaughan worked out of trouble to end the inning with a strikeout.

The score held until the fifth inning when Walnut Grove tied the game. Landon Dean sent a fly ball to left field that the outfielder misplayed, allowing the ball to get over his head. Michael Hauser capitalized on the error and came around to score, knotting the game at 1-1. Cole Roberson responded by escaping a jam with a strikeout to keep the game tied.

The decisive moment came in the seventh inning. Heritage loaded the bases and Mitchell came through in the clutch, delivering a bloop single to right field that scored Brayden Hinson with the winning run. The walk-off hit gave Midlothian Heritage the 2-1 victory over Walnut Grove.
