Keller Edges Euless Trinity 5-4 in Regional Final Game 1 | 4-6A Baseball
A weather delay couldn't cool off the intensity between two of 4-6A's longest-standing rivals. Keller and Euless Trinity met in a regional final in Weatherford, and when play finally got underway after an hour-and-a-half postponement, the Indians wasted little time getting on the board.
A wild pitch in the early going allowed Cody Miller to score, putting Keller up 1-0. The Indians extended that lead to 3-0 heading into the sixth inning, but Trinity answered. Deacon Baker hit one to third that was misplayed, and Rylan Alaniz came around to score, trimming the deficit to 3-2 after six.
Keller responded in the top of the seventh. Logan Brown doubled to left, and Brock Burkett came all the way around to score, pushing the lead back to 5-2. The Trojans scored twice in the bottom half to make it a one-run game with a runner on third, but Cameron Ireland struck out the final batter to strand the threat and seal the win.
Keller takes Game 1 of the regional final, 5-4, and holds the early edge in the series against their longtime district rival.
