JJ Pearce Sweeps Arlington With 7-2 Game 2 Victory Behind Nate Kinder's 3-Hit Performance
A five-run second inning proved to be the difference as JJ Pearce completed a series sweep of Arlington with a 7-2 victory in Game 2. The Colts had already taken Game 1 by a 4-3 margin and wasted no time putting the series away.
Arlington threatened early with the bases loaded and only one out in the top of the first inning, but Ty Henkel made a sliding catch and the Colts doubled the runner off second base to escape the jam. That defensive play set the tone for Pearce.
The Colts broke through in the second inning when Nate Kinder sent a screaming line drive to the gap in left field. Nash Hornberger scored the first run of the game, barely avoiding the tag at the plate. Two batters later, Brody Ross delivered the first of four two-out RBI singles in the inning as Pearce plated five runs to take control.
Arlington chipped away with runs in the fourth and sixth innings, but Kinder put the game away with his third hit of the contest. The Colts secured the 7-2 victory and the series sweep.
