Hebron Edges Plano West 1-0 in Game 1 of Best-of-3 Series
A single run proved sufficient as Hebron edged Plano West 1-0 in the opener of their best-of-3 playoff series at Hebron.
The game remained scoreless through three innings before the Hawks broke through in the fourth. Walker Steele drove a ball deep to right field that hit the wall and caromed away from the outfielder, allowing Steele to reach third base with a one-out triple. The next batter, Brayden Pacheco, lifted a sacrifice fly to center field that was deep enough to score Steele with what would be the game's only run.
Cooper Williams dominated on the mound for Hebron, going the distance and keeping the Wolves off the scoreboard. Plano West threatened when Abraham Perez drove a ball to left field that dropped in and took an unusual bounce away from the outfielder. Perez attempted to stretch the hit into a triple but was thrown out at third base, ending the scoring threat. Williams struck out two batters in the seventh inning, including the final out to secure the 1-0 victory and give Hebron a 1-0 series lead.
