Flower Mound Marcus Sweeps Richardson Pearce in Baseball Playoffs
A season hung in the balance for Richardson Pearce, facing elimination in game two against Flower Mound Marcus. The Mustangs needed a win to extend their playoff run, but the Marauders had other plans.
The game remained tight through four innings, knotted at 2-2 when Marcus broke through. Brady Moore launched a shot that dropped in front of the wall and bounced over for a ground rule double, plating the go-ahead run to put the Marauders up 3-2.
Pearce answered in the bottom of the fifth. Nash Hornberger ripped a gapper all the way to the wall for a double, scoring a run to even the score at 3-3 and keeping the Mustangs' season alive.
The lead changed hands again in the top of the sixth when Brayden Gulick put a charge into one that dropped just inside fair territory and caromed off the wall. The hit scored a run, giving Marcus a 4-3 advantage.
Marcus put the game away with a five-run explosion in the seventh inning. Cole Schott delivered the decisive blow with a two-run triple to straightaway center field. The Marauders completed the series sweep with a 9-3 victory and will advance to face Frenship in the regional semifinals.
