Allen Eagles Dominate DeSoto 50-6 Behind Snell, Williams & Spriggs

Eagle Stadium lived up to its reputation on Friday night. Allen wasted no time asserting itself against DeSoto, building a 28-0 lead before halftime and never letting up in a 50-6 season-opening victory.

The Eagles got on the board early when KP Jackson took a handoff, found the crease, and punched it in from 6 yards out to make it 14-0. Lyndon Spriggs added a short-range score to push the lead to 21, and sophomore quarterback Ty Snell capped the first-half surge with a touchdown pass to Zach Williams to put Allen up 28.

Snell picked up right where he left off in the second half, connecting with Williams again on a 65-yard strike — a one-play drive that had Allen rolling. Spriggs then put an exclamation point on the night, returning a free kick 76 yards for a touchdown after Allen recorded a safety, benefiting from strong blocking downfield.

Allen's program has long been one of the premier programs in the state, a tradition that included former Eagles quarterback Kyler Murray, now a signal caller in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings. Snell, still just a sophomore, showed early promise in stepping into a program with those kinds of expectations.

DeSoto, facing its second consecutive road game to open the season, was held to just 6 points. The final score — Allen 50, DeSoto 6 — reflected two programs trending in very different directions through the early weeks of the season.
