Texas Glory 18U Rolls to 5th Place Finish Behind Big Bats and Doty on the Mound

Loaded with college commits and DFW-area talent, the 18U Texas Glory squad made a statement at the tournament, combining dominant pitching with a relentless offensive attack to beat their opponent 14-6 and finish 5th overall.

On the mound, Madi Doty was in control from the start. The two-time state champion out of Grandview was mowing down hitters all day, and she'll be suiting up for Texas in less than a month. It was the kind of performance that's become expected from one of the more decorated pitchers to come through the DFW area in recent years.

At the plate, Melissa's Finlee Williams was the standout of the day. The Oklahoma commit went 4-for-5 with three doubles, and DFW fans will have one more year to watch her play at the high school level before she heads to Norman. She got on the board early when an Iowa State commit Daphne Palumbo lifted a fly ball to short center — just deep enough to bring Williams home in the first inning.

Flower Mound grad Adison Bicknell added a small-ball contribution in the middle innings, slapping a pitch that fell in and plated a run. Then Texas Glory went to work with the long ball. Keller grad Sydona Meiser — a former bobblehead winner — crushed a pitch to tie the score. Marcus junior Emily Souders followed with a liner that caught the top of the fence and cleared it for a home run; Souders is headed to Missouri. Keller grad MacKenna Jackson, a future Kansas Jayhawk, added another big blast to cap the scoring.

Texas Glory finished the tournament 5th overall, a strong result for a roster that doubles as a who's-who of DFW high school softball talent.
