Sophee Peterson Eyes Three-Peat With Byron Nelson Volleyball
Few high school volleyball players enter a season carrying the kind of résumé Sophee Peterson brings to Byron Nelson. The senior setter claimed both the Gatorade and MaxPreps national player of the year awards last season, earned AVCA first-team All-American recognition, and helped the Bobcats finish the year undefeated — all while racking up nearly 1,500 assists.
Peterson is ranked as the top setter in the country heading into the new season, and her dominance hasn't been limited to the high school level. This past summer she was named MVP for her TAV club team that won Junior Nationals, adding another major title to an already crowded trophy case.
Byron Nelson, located in Trophy Club and competing in UIL Class 6A, has established itself as one of the premier volleyball programs in the state of Texas. With Peterson running the offense, the Bobcats are chasing something rare — a third consecutive state championship. After her prep career wraps up, Peterson is committed to continue her career at Texas A&M.
