Buck Randall Breaks Matthew Stafford's All-Time Highland Park Passing Record
The name Matthew Stafford has long been the standard at Highland Park — a benchmark so high that no quarterback had come close to matching it since the future NFL star left the program. Buck Randall just erased it.
The Highland Park senior has surpassed Stafford as the Scots' all-time career passing leader, accumulating well over 9,000 yards through his first three varsity seasons. Randall's rise began early — he became the first sophomore to start under center for Highland Park since Stafford himself, a distinction that signaled something rare was developing in University Park.
Head coach Randy Allen, who has built Highland Park into one of the most decorated programs in Texas UIL history, doesn't hand out praise lightly. He calls Randall the most accurate passer he has ever coached — a statement that carries considerable weight given the quarterbacks who have come through that program.
Last season, Randall threw 51 touchdown passes, and with the Scots looking to make a deep playoff run in 2026, the expectation is that his production will only grow. After his senior year, Randall is headed to SMU to continue his career at the college level.
