Lake Ridge QB DeShawn Edwards: 1,600 Passing Yards, 926 Rushing Yards Through 8 Games

Dual-threat quarterbacks are common in Texas high school football. What DeShawn Edwards is doing at Lake Ridge is not.

Through eight games this season, the Eagles signal-caller has thrown for over 1,600 yards and 18 touchdowns while adding 926 rushing yards and 15 more scores on the ground. That kind of production on both sides of the ball puts Edwards among the most complete quarterbacks in the DFW area regardless of classification.

The numbers aren't new, either. Last season, Edwards totaled more than 3,800 combined yards and led Lake Ridge to a 9-3 record — one of the program's strongest finishes in recent memory. With the Eagles building on that momentum, Edwards is once again the engine driving their offense as the playoff picture comes into focus.

Football is only part of the story. When the final whistle blows on the Eagles' season, Edwards moves directly to the hardwood as Lake Ridge's starting point guard — a testament to his athleticism and his value to the school's overall athletic program.
