Waco La Vega Defeats Lake Dallas in 4A D1 Boys Soccer State Championship

The Lake Dallas Falcons boys soccer team completed an incredible turnaround this season, bouncing back from a 1-6-4 start to reach the 4A D1 state championship game against the Waco La Vega Pirates. After a scoreless first half where Lake Dallas narrowly missed an opportunity in the box, the Pirates broke the tie in the second half. Dovanny Morales delivered a perfect through ball to Angel Cervantes Calvillo, who found the back of the net to give La Vega a 1-0 lead. Lake Dallas fought hard for an equalizer and nearly found one when Cameron Sasser connected with Cooper Denehie, but the ball was ruled out of bounds before the pass. Waco La Vega held on to secure the 1-0 victory and claim the state title.
