The Bridgeport Bulls made history by capturing their first-ever state title in the 4A D2 boys soccer final against Royal. Following an hour and a half lightning delay, the teams took the field for a highly anticipated matchup. Trailing 2-1 in the second half, Bridgeport's David Duran delivered a sensational pass to Xxavier Garza, who scored to tie the game and force overtime. In extra time, the Bulls' offense exploded. Jose Iniguez set up Jared Contreras for a beautiful right-foot strike to take the lead. Minutes later, Julian Martinez crossed the ball to Contreras, who headed it into the back of the net. Contreras finished the game with a hat trick and earned MVP honors as Bridgeport secured a thrilling 5-2 victory and the state championship.
