Trent Kutch Wins Boys Soccer Coach of the Year After Back-to-Back 5A D1 Titles

Three years into its existence, Prosper Walnut Grove's boys soccer program has already rewritten what's possible for a first-generation team in Texas high school athletics. Head coach Trent Kutch, hired for the Wildcats' inaugural 2024 season, guided Walnut Grove to back-to-back 5A Division 1 state championships — including a perfect 31-0 record in 2026 that came on the heels of graduating 17 seniors from the previous title squad.

Rebuilding around a new roster wasn't the only adjustment Kutch made. He overhauled his offensive system, shifting to a higher-pressing style that generated more scoring opportunities and kept opponents off balance throughout the season. The result: a 58-game unbeaten streak that spans two championship runs and shows no signs of slowing.

For sustaining elite-level performance through roster turnover and tactical evolution, Trent Kutch is DFW Inside High School Sports' Boys Soccer Coach of the Year.
