Jayshon Gibson: Richland RB Rushed for 2,200 Yards and 41 TDs Before UCLA Commit
The standard at Richland for running backs is a high one. Baylor's Michael Turner built his reputation carrying the ball for the Royals, and junior Jayshon Gibson spent last season making sure that legacy stayed intact.
Gibson rushed for over 2,200 yards and 41 touchdowns in his junior campaign, numbers that put him among the elite backs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area regardless of classification. The highlight of his season came in the postseason against El Dorado, when he carried for 321 yards and seven touchdowns in a single game—a performance that underscored just how dominant he had become as a ball carrier.
Now a senior, Gibson is expected to anchor Richland's backfield once again before heading to the next level. He verbally committed to UCLA in May, giving the Royals a marquee recruit and giving Bruins fans a reason to follow the rest of his high school career closely.
