Highland Park Scots Top Klein Oak 61-43 in TABC Boys Showcase

July 10, 2026
Highland Park topped Klein Oak 61-43 in the TABC Boys Showcase, with Alex Stockwood and Kellan Cantrell leading a sharp offensive performance.

Summer basketball can reveal a lot about a program's direction, and the Highland Park Scots looked like a team with plenty of confidence heading into the upcoming season. Facing Klein Oak in the TABC Boys Showcase, the Scots controlled the game from start to finish, walking away with a 61-43 victory.

The offense got going early through ball movement and decisive play-making. Guard Chris Martinez was a catalyst, driving into the paint and finding Drew Fisher for an open layup to set the tone. Martinez later located Alex Stockwood on the wing, where Stockwood's quick-release jumper from three-point range was pure.

Stockwood was the standout of the afternoon. He also connected on a one-legged runner through contact in the mid-range — the kind of shot that draws attention from opposing coaches. Head coach David Piehler had reason to like what he was seeing from his group.

The second half continued in the same vein. The Scots moved the ball with purpose, and Kellan Cantrell capped a crisp possession with a long three-pointer that underscored just how comfortable this group looked playing together. Highland Park outscored Klein Oak by 18 in what amounted to a dominant showcase performance well before the first UIL tip-off of the season.
