Top DFW Wide Receivers for 2026: Briceson Thrower & Trenton Yancey
Two names keep surfacing at the top of every serious Dallas-Fort Worth wide receiver conversation heading into 2026: North Forney's Briceson Thrower and Duncanville's Trenton Yancey. Both are dual-sport athletes, both carry Power Four commitments, and both have the kind of speed and explosiveness that make them legitimate state-level threats at their respective programs.
Yancey has grown into one of the most recruited pass-catchers in the country, checking in as a top-150 national prospect with more than 40 college offers before committing to Purdue University. The Duncanville standout is not a one-trick player—his versatility allows him to line up at multiple positions, and his run-after-catch ability consistently turns short gains into chunk plays. The Boilermakers are landing a player who has already proven he can perform on the biggest stages in Texas high school football.
Thrower announced himself to college scouts as a junior at North Forney with a physically mature frame that projects well at the next level. His red-zone presence and ability to win vertically make him a matchup problem, and his athleticism extends beyond the football field—he posted a 10.76 in the 100 meters as part of North Forney's 4x100 relay team. He has since committed to the University of Texas, giving the Longhorns a receiver with both size and track-level speed.
Together, Thrower and Yancey represent the upper tier of DFW pass-catchers for the coming season. Defensive coordinators across their respective districts will have plenty to account for when these two are on the field.
