Southlake Carroll's Lethal WR Duo: Brody Knowles & Blake Gunter in 2026

Two thousand yards. Twenty-seven touchdowns. One wide receiver room. Southlake Carroll's passing game was one of the most productive in the DFW area in 2025, and the Dragons are bringing it back almost entirely intact.

Illinois commit Brody Knowles and Cal commit Blake Gunter headline a receiver corps that has long been a trademark of Carroll football. Knowles, a 6-foot-4 vertical threat, finished with 36 receptions for 816 yards and seven touchdowns — an eye-catching 22.7 yards per catch that speaks to his ability to win deep balls and contested 50/50 situations. Gunter was even more prolific, catching 68 passes for 1,224 yards and 18 touchdowns while adding two more scores on the ground. He is the go-to option when the Dragons need a play made.

The one new variable in Carroll's offense is quarterback Hudson Tomcheck, who takes over under center in 2026. Few first-year starters in Texas inherit a situation this favorable — a proven offensive system, a program with a deep tradition of competing at the highest UIL classification level, and two Power Four-bound receivers who already know how to get open.

Defensive coordinators across District 4-6A will be drawing up extra coverage schemes this fall. With Knowles and Gunter healthy and motivated, Southlake Carroll's offense has the firepower to make another deep playoff run and return to AT&T Stadium.
