Texas Tech Lands Four Elite DFW Recruits Including Top 10 National Prospect

May 28, 2026
Texas Tech lands four elite DFW recruits—Julian Caldwell, SaRod Baker, K'Adrian Redmond, and top-10 prospect Jalen Brewster—as Joey McGuire builds a CFP contender.

Joey McGuire never really left DFW. The former Cedar Hill head coach has made the Metroplex a cornerstone of his Texas Tech recruiting strategy, and the 2025 cycle is producing results that should have Big 12 defenses taking notice.

The Red Raiders have secured commitments from four high-profile prospects out of the area, headlined by two top-200 national players on offense. Argyle wide receiver Julian Caldwell brings a rare combination of route-running polish and big-play ability—a dual-threat receiver who can stretch the field vertically or come down with contested catches in traffic. He is also a multi-sport standout in track and field, which shows up in his explosiveness off the line. Alongside him in the backfield will be DeSoto's SaRod Baker, who put together one of the most dominant stretches of any player in Texas last season. Over the final ten games of the year, Baker compiled 3,206 yards and 43 touchdowns on a staggering 9.29 yards per carry, capping it with an offensive MVP performance in the 6A Division II state championship game. Both players fit naturally into the Red Raiders' high-octane Air Raid system.

On the defensive side, McGuire's staff addressed the trenches with two standout linemen. DeSoto's K'Adrian Redmond had a dominant 2025 season, using his size and track background to play with leverage and consistently shut down opposing run games. Cedar Hill's Jalen Brewster arrives as a top-10 national prospect and one of the most disruptive interior linemen in the country. Brewster has been a force for three straight seasons at Cedar Hill, and opposing offensive coordinators have yet to find a reliable answer for him. His combination of strength and athleticism makes him a legitimate difference-maker at the college level.

Texas Tech reached the College Football Playoff in 2025 on the strength of a suffocating defense and a dynamic offense. With four impact recruits from one of the most talent-rich regions in the country now committed to Lubbock, the program has the pieces to make that kind of postseason run the expectation rather than the exception.
