Denton Guyer DT Khyren Haywood | 11.5 Sacks & Texas Tech Commit

October 7, 2026
Denton Guyer DT Khyren Haywood posted 11.5 sacks and 24.5 TFLs as a junior. The Texas Tech commit is one of Texas's top interior prospects.

Generating interior pass rush is one of the hardest things to do in football, and Denton Guyer senior Khyren Haywood has been doing it since he was a freshman. The 6'1, 270-pound defensive tackle racked up 61 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, and 22 quarterback hurries across 14 games in his junior season — numbers that would stand out from any position, let alone from the interior of a defensive line.

Haywood is ranked the 47th-best prospect in the state of Texas by Dave Campbell's Texas Football, a reflection of his ability to generate disruption between the tackles while maintaining the athleticism and strength to play multiple roles up front. Getting double-digit sacks as an edge rusher draws attention; doing it as a three-technique or nose tackle is a different level of difficulty entirely.

A Texas Tech pledge, Haywood has been a mainstay on the Guyer defensive line since arriving on campus as a freshman. The Wildcats have long been one of the premier programs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and a state championship has remained just out of reach. With Haywood anchoring the front in his final season, Guyer's defense has the kind of interior presence that can change the outcome of a deep playoff run.
