Denton Guyer DT Khyren Haywood | Texas Tech Commit & One of Texas's Top Prospects

October 22, 2026
Denton Guyer DT Khyren Haywood posted 11.5 sacks and 24.5 TFLs as a junior. The Texas Tech commit is one of Texas's top interior prospects.

Generating 11.5 sacks from the interior of a defensive line is a feat most edge rushers never match. For Denton Guyer senior Khyren Haywood, it was just another line in the stat book.

The 6'1, 270-pound defensive tackle finished his junior season with 61 tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, and 22 quarterback hurries across 14 games — numbers that stand out regardless of position, but carry extra weight coming from a player aligned inside. Interior pass rushers face double teams, chip blocks, and tighter lanes than edge defenders, making Haywood's sack production a genuine measure of his ability to disrupt at the point of attack.

Ranked 47th among all prospects in the state of Texas by Dave Campbell's Texas Football, Haywood has been a starter on Guyer's defensive line since his freshman year. His natural size has allowed him to remain athletic and versatile up front without sacrificing strength — a combination that drew a commitment from Texas Tech, where he is pledged to play at the next level.

Denton Guyer has long been one of the premier programs in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, consistently competing deep into the UIL playoffs. A state championship, however, has remained elusive for the Wildcats. As Haywood enters his final season, his ability to control the line of scrimmage will be central to whether Guyer can make a deep postseason run before he heads to Lubbock.
