The nationally ranked Melissa Cardinals softball team continued their dominant season with a decisive 13-5 victory over Walnut Grove. Entering the game with an impressive 19-2 record, Melissa showcased their offensive firepower early and often. In the second inning, Auburn commit Shug Bradford launched a home run into deep centerfield to open the scoring. The power surge continued in the third inning when Oklahoma commit Finlee Williams hit her 11th home run of the year, contributing to a massive seven-run inning. Freshman Ana Gonzales also delivered a key two-run single. Although Walnut Grove first baseman Zelda Bobbitt made a spectacular diving catch to try and slow the momentum, Melissa's offense proved too much to handle. The Cardinals finished the night with four home runs, cementing their status as a top-tier program in DFW high school softball.
