The Melissa Lady Cardinals, ranked third in the state and reigning back-to-back state champions, faced off against Lovejoy in a competitive high school softball matchup. Melissa started strong with runs driven in by Bradyn Young and Izzy Gonzalez to take an early 3-0 lead. Lovejoy fought back in the fifth inning with a two-run home run by Gisela Bottmann to narrow the gap. However, Melissa responded decisively, highlighted by a two-run homer from Hutton Adrian, ultimately securing a 7-3 victory.
