Lovejoy's Ryan Gros Leads Leopards to First-Ever 5A Baseball State Title
Ryan Gros led Lovejoy to its first-ever baseball state title with a 10-1 playoff run and a 7-2 win over Sharyland in the 5A Division 2 championship.
Four years after taking over the program, Ryan Gros delivered something Lovejoy baseball had never seen before — a state championship.
The Leopards finished the 2024 playoff run at 10-1, capping the season with a 7-2 victory over Sharyland in the 5A Division 2 state title game. Gros, who was hired as head coach in 2021, built the run on a formula of elite pitching and clutch hitting that held up through every round of the bracket.
For a program reaching the top of its classification for the first time, the accomplishment marks a defining moment in Lovejoy athletics. Gros is the DFW Inside High School Sports Baseball Coach of the Year.
