Grandview's Madi Doty: 1,000 K's, .500 Average, and a Texas Longhorn Commitment
A thousand strikeouts is a career milestone most pitchers never reach. Madi Doty of Grandview got there before putting on a college uniform.
The right-handed ace has been virtually untouchable in the circle, carrying an ERA well under 1.00 while racking up more than 1,000 punchouts across her high school career. Opposing hitters stepping into the box against Doty have found few answers — and far more walks back to the dugout.
What separates Doty from most elite pitchers, though, is what she does when she picks up a bat. She's hitting above .500 on the season, giving Grandview a legitimate two-way weapon that is rare at any level of the game. The combination of power at the plate and dominance in the circle has made her the standard-bearer for Texas high school softball.
Doty has committed to play college softball at the University of Texas, where she'll bring both her arm and her bat to the Longhorns program.
