Allen's Maya Ogbogu: Texas A&M Commit and National Volleyball Standout

Few sophomores in Texas high school volleyball have made a statement quite like Maya Ogbogu. The 6-foot outside hitter at Allen High School—home to one of the top-ten ranked volleyball programs in the nation—has emerged as one of the most complete prospects in the state, combining attacking volume with a defensive presence at the net that is rare at any level.

Ogbogu's sophomore numbers were difficult to ignore. She recorded 444 kills, 59 total blocks, 234 digs, and 18 aces while hitting .334 on the season. MaxPreps ranked her second in kills across her 6A Region 1 district, a classification that consistently produces some of the deepest competition in UIL volleyball.

Her impact extended well beyond the high school gym. Ogbogu was named MVP and earned Best Spiker honors for the USA U17 team that captured the 2025 NORCECA U17 Continental Championship—a résumé addition that underscores just how quickly she has climbed the national recruiting landscape. She is already committed to Texas A&M.

For the Allen Eagles, Ogbogu represents the clearest path yet toward a first UIL state volleyball championship. Her ability to control the net on both sides of the ball gives Allen an elite two-way weapon, and at just a sophomore, the ceiling on her development remains exceptionally high. She is already drawing comparisons to the best players in Eagle volleyball history.
