North Texas Girls Golf Shines at UIL State Championships in San Antonio and Georgetown
The UIL state golf championships brought out the best in several North Texas programs this week, with DFW schools claiming multiple top finishes across classifications.
At TPC Oaks in San Antonio, Southlake Carroll's girls golf team rebounded from a difficult opening round to shoot a tournament-best 303 on Tuesday, securing second place overall behind Austin Westlake in the 6A tournament. Gia Ahlowahlia, Stephanie DeMarco and freshman Olivia Neill all delivered strong performances for the Dragons, demonstrating the kind of resilience that keeps Carroll in championship contention year after year.
Individually, Plano West's Eileen Lee finished second with a two-over-par performance, battling through tough course conditions and staying patient through both rounds.
In the 5A tournament at Legacy Hills Golf Course in Georgetown, Frisco Reedy made an impressive run with three freshmen on the roster, finishing second behind Comal Pieper. Ineesa Hartman led the Lions with a five-over-par tournament total as the young squad handled adversity and challenging conditions throughout the week.
Joshua's Kayla Yuan played consistent golf across both days, posting a one-under 143 to claim third place individually. Frisco Centennial finished fourth in the team standings, just ahead of fifth-place Colleyville Heritage, giving Frisco ISD two teams in the top five.
