Big things expected from Marcus Shavers' McKinney Lions. They took on Longview Thursday night.
Second quarter, up 7-0, North Garland transfer, Godspower Nwawuihe (Juan-we-hey) keeps it himself and goes 19 yards for the touchdown. Lions were up 14-7 at the half.
3rd quarter, "Juan-we-hey" at it again. Again with the keeper, that's a 4 yard score. Missed extra point makes it 20-7 McKinney
But the Lobos would come back. 4th quarter, down 6, Andrew Tutt with the nice play action...Lions D.B's bite on it....that leaves Dakaylen Reese wide open for a 74 yard touchdown. 21-20 Longview.
But McKinney would drive it down field for a shot at a field goal with a minute 30 left. Cole Dauper drills the 27 yarder. McKinney up 2.
Now they need a play from their defense and Florida commit, Xavier Filsaime (Fil-suh-me) comes through. Watch him come out of nowhere to put a helmet on the ball and pop it loose. McKinney recovers and would win this one 23-21.--
