Lancaster Girls Win 15th State Title & First in 6A at UIL Track & Field Championships
Fifteen state championships is a program-defining number, and Lancaster's girls track team added to that legacy in a big way — claiming their first-ever title at the 6A level. The Tigers didn't wait for the meet to develop, seizing control from the opening relays and never letting go.
The 4x100 relay team of Tateayna Fuller, Lily Pierrot, Milan Lathan, and Saniyah Miller set the tone immediately, winning in 43.99 — a full second ahead of rival Duncanville. Taylor Marie Wilson stepped in for Lathan in the 4x200, and the result was nearly identical: another Lancaster victory, this time in 1:33.95, again by a full second over Dickinson.
Vanderbilt commit Lily Pierrot kept the momentum going with a 100-meter win in 11.14, edging Duncanville's Sanyah Keeton (11.20) at the line. Milan Lathan added a silver in the 400, and Lancaster closed out the night as team champions with 71 points. Duncanville, which won the 200 meters through Keeton's 22.74 and closed with a 4x400 relay victory, finished with 64 points.
Elsewhere in 6A, Flower Mound's Adeline Bennett won the 1600, Denton Braswell's Macy Wingard took the 3200, and Arlington Martin senior Caitlyn Cavitt defended her gold in the girls long jump. Coppell's Ainsley Bramer won the girls shot put at 45 feet, three-quarters of an inch, while NW Eaton's Kaden Bram launched a 188-foot, nine-inch discus throw for gold. Eliana Young of Wylie East tied for gold in the girls high jump at 5-6, and Kieron Donnely of McKinney Boyd tied Mesquite's Jordan Hawkins at 6-10 in the boys high jump. Byron Nelson's Jayden Frye won the boys long jump at 25 feet, and Hurst L.D. Bell's Micaiah Canady edged reigning champion Caleb Adam of Euless Trinity in the triple jump, clearing just under 66 feet.
In 5A, Mansfield Timberview captured the boys team title, opening with a 4x100 relay win and getting a 300-meter hurdles gold from Tristen Shaw (36.29). Frisco Heritage finished second overall, powered by CJ Williams, who won the shot put at nearly 68 feet and added a silver in the discus. Jayden Kennedy of Fossil Ridge won the 200-meter dash, Justin Stewart of Fort Worth Arlington Heights took the 100, and Denton won the 4x200 relay in 1:24.94. Frisco Lebanon Trail senior Andrew Malan won the 3200, and Mansfield Summit's Domonique Young took the boys long jump at over 24 feet.
On the girls side of 5A, Red Oak sophomore Zahria Bernard was the story of the meet, accounting for 36 points with state titles in the 100 and 200 and a runner-up finish with her 4x400 relay team. Red Oak junior Briana Davis won the shot put, Highland Park freshman Adelaide Wortman claimed gold in the 800, and Prosper Walnut Grove junior Lauren Carrothers won the long jump at 19 feet, four inches. Frisco Heritage's Amelia Fair won the 300-meter hurdles in 32.63, and McKinney North's Teah Walker took the 100-meter hurdles in 42.23.
At the 4A level, the Dallas Lincoln girls shared the team title with Canyon, capping a strong showing for DFW programs across all classifications.
