Keller Central Football Builds Belief Behind Taylor Twins & Perfect Non-District Run

A last-second win over Allen in the state 7-on-7 championship game doesn't show up in the varsity record book, but it changed something inside the Keller Central football program. For a team that hasn't reached the postseason since 2019 and has never won a playoff game, beating the same Allen squad that opened its season by dismantling Duncanville and DeSoto was more than a summer trophy — it was proof.

The Chargers enter District 4-6A-II play with a perfect non-district record, built on a dominant running game led by Spencer Martin. But the names drawing attention from across Texas belong to the Taylor twins — Isaiah and Jeremiah. Isaiah lines up at quarterback and defensive back; Jeremiah works as a wide receiver and DB. Both are high-level Division I prospects, and both chose to stay at Central when other programs came calling. Liberty Christian won back-to-back state championships with former Keller Central athletes who transferred out. The Taylor twins didn't follow that path.

Head coach Eric Rouse credits their character and family values for keeping them in the building, and he's leaned on their leadership to reshape the program's culture. The Chargers are no longer sneaking up on anyone — Rouse acknowledged as much himself. The secret is out.

Keller Central opens district play Thursday night against Southlake Carroll, one of the most decorated programs in UIL history. It's exactly the kind of stage the Chargers say they've been preparing for.
