Team ASAK Tops New York Wiz Kids 70-61 at Three Stripes Select Tournament

Bryan's Legends Event Center hosted the Three Stripes Select Basketball tournament last week, and a group of DFW 17-and-under standouts made a strong case for what's coming this winter. Team ASAK — short for All Sweat, All Kills — knocked off the New York Wiz Kids 70-61 behind a balanced offensive effort and a second-half surge that put the game away.

South Oak Cliff's Jonathan Bradley was the catalyst from the opening tip. He finished with a game-high 21 points, including an early sequence where he deflected a pass, fed Arlington Seguin's Armani Green, got it right back, and converted at the rim. Green added nine points of his own, including an and-one that helped ASAK carry a 30-23 lead into halftime.

Crowley's Jeremiah Thirdkill brought the highlight-reel moments — sneaking in the back door for an alley-oop layup and a foul in the first half, then draining a three-pointer in the second that pushed the lead to 18. He finished with eight points. Faith Family's Josiah Jones was the second-half story, repeatedly finding his spot at the top of the key and converting. He ended with nine points and showed the kind of shooting touch that should turn heads once the UIL season gets underway.

ASAK's 70-61 final was a convincing result against out-of-state competition and a useful early preview of the DFW talent set to take the hardwood this winter.
