Arlington Martin Warriors vs. Arlington Bowie Volunteers - 2013 Basketball - Week 7

02/16/13

Last time Arlington Bowie faces Arlington Martin, Bowie's Jeremy Senglin had one of the most memorable dunks of the year. He was hoping for the same in the rematch. Volunteers stumbled out of the gate as the Warriors scored the games first 13 points. Josh Swearingen with the pull up 3 pointer. Senglin led the Volunteers back in it. Here he goes one on one against the Martin defense and scores on the one hander in the lane. Senglin finished with 21 points. But on the other end, Shawn Hammler sees Nick Babb cutting towards the basket and connects on the nasty alley oop. Martin up 16-13 after 1. 2nd quarter, Bowie's Brandon Hall waits for the right time to strike and then darts to the basket. He's fouled and scores to keep the Volunteers close. Let me tell you about Martin's Myles Garrett. He only got about 2 minutes of playing time, but he sure made the most of it on the defensive end. Blocking 3 Volunteer shots in humiliating fashion. He's a big time football recruit, so I don't think I'd want to face him in either sport. 2nd half, Babb in transition knocks down the trifecta. Babb with a game high 23 points and Martin led 45-36 after 3 quarters. They would put it away in the 4th. Kordell Elits sees Jordan Smith with the nice cut to the basket for the bucket. Arlington Martin wraps up 2nd place in District 3-5A with the 62-54 win. Bowie finishes third.
