Mikey Harrington of The Colony got a well deserved bobblehead for his excellent performance against Frisco Reedy in Week 2.
Frisco Lone Star not only ended Highland Park's 33 game winning streak, but beat them at their home field where they were 102-1 under Randy Allen. The Rangers 30-19 win makes them our Geico Team of the Week
Check out Mansfield Lake Ridge coming out to the green smoke....I like it. However they trailed Timberview by 20 going into the 3rd That's when they went to the bag of tricks. Halfback option and Joshua Bowie hits Cotis Martin for a 29 yard score, but the Eagle defense could not stop the Wolves running game. On 4th and 1, that's Montaye Dawson for the 35 yard touchdown, 51-24 Wolves, and doesn't Lake Ridge Head Coach Kirk Thor look like he's about had it with this game Unfortunately Timberview wasn't done. Check out the hurdle from Najee Ellies for extra yardage. Wow. Then Deuce Jones with the 20 yard touchdown run for his 3rd score of the game. Timberview gets their first win of the season with the upset over Lake Ridge 64-31
Lancaster entered the Gopher Bowl to take on South Grand Prairie Friday night. First quarter, Glen Rice Junior throws the screen to D Q James for the 8 yard touchdown. 7-0 Tigers Still first, the handoff goes to Tre Bradford and he takes off.......slows up around the 20, but still good enough for a 56 yard score and a 14-0 Lancaster lead Half winding down and back up qb Sean Stegall comes in for the Warriors....snap hits him in the face but he scoops it and falls in the end zone. Lancaster would wind up winning this one 42-27.
We had a classic of a game at Kangaroo Stadium in Weatherford where Dezmond Forrest looked to build on his strong start to 2019. We pick it up in the 3rd quarter where Forrest is taking this 28 yard run to the house for the 3rd of his 4 touchdowns on the night along with this 123 yards rushing. Still in third quarter it would be Birdville quarterback Stone Earle throwing to Carter Self for a 5 yard touchdown to regain the lead 26-25. This would be back and forth all night. We move ahead to 23 seconds remaining, Birdville down 33-26 and it is Earle throwing this 10 yard touchdown pass to the back corner to Carter Self to make it a 1 point game. The Hawk's are going to kick the PAT and send this OT right? No! Birdville decides to go for it all but this pass attempt falls incomplete and the Kangaroos win and move to 3-0 on the year with this 33-32 win.
Aledo is led by two big time offensive weapons, Jase McClellan and Jo Jo Earle. They would lead the Bearcats into a matchup with Burleson Centennial. Check out the trickery early on here with McClellan pitting it on the reverse to Earle who takes this all the way down deep into Spartan territory. That would lead to this touchdown pass as quarterback Jake Bishop throws quickly to Money Parks - hey he could make plenty of money with speed like this. He scores the touchdown. It would be a big night for him. Later in the 2nd quarter it's Bishop again connecting with Parks in the endzone for the touchdown. Aledo has so many weapons - and the Bearcats go on to blast Burleson Centennial 63-30 to begin the season's district play.
