Wylie vs. South Garland - 2020 Week 9 Football Highlights
Across town, South Garland and Wylie were at Homer B Johnson stadium, both teams looking for their first win. They played an exciting second half. Wylie quarterback MARCUS MCELROY threw a dart to CAM PRUITT, who sprinted the rest of the way for a 55 yard touchdown and a 10-point lead.
But South Garland's quarterback JALIL BROWN one-upped them on their next possession - literally. BROWN escaped several tacklers and went 56 yards - one more than Wylie's previous touchdown - to make it a 23-21 game after their 2-point conversion. Wylie got the ball back and was putting together a great drive, but KHAYDARIUS HART read this play like it was a kids' book. HART picks off the pass and takes off ... and there is literally no Wylie Pirate within 25 yards of him. South Garland decided to go for 2, and watch this play.... sideways snap to JACOB CRIM, quick toss to the quarterback BROWN, and a quick throw to KESHUN ABRAHAM - 29-23 Colonels.
But Wylie wasn't done yet. MCELROY and PRUITT hooked up on another slant pass, this one going 28 yards, and the Pirates were back on top after the extra point. The Colonels didn't back down, BROWN throwing deep to TYREON KEY for the go-ahead score, and South Garland beats Wylie 35-30.
