In a dramatic showdown for the 4-5A Division 2 district title, Walnut Grove High School pulled off a thrilling 38-35 victory over Melissa High School. Head Coach Tommy Allison led the Wildcats to their consecutive district championship, with notable performances from Hayes Hackney and Cam Newton. Hackney dazzled with a deceptive pump fake for a 66-yard touchdown pass, while Newton powered through with 172 rushing yards and four touchdowns, sealing the deal with a crucial 1-yard touchdown. Melissa's Brett Holloway also shined, scoring four rushing touchdowns and connecting with Dalton Dababneh for a 48-yard score, keeping the game tight until the final minutes.
