Trey Wright Rushes for 136 Yards & 3 TDs as Lone Star Rolls Reedy 56-28
Graham Harrell made the trip to The Star to watch Lone Star take on Reedy, and the former Texas high school football legend — now co-offensive coordinator at Abilene Christian — got an eyeful. Lone Star quarterback Trey Wright delivered one of the more electric rushing performances of the week, finishing with 136 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in a 56-28 Rangers victory.
Wright got things going early, avoiding pressure and making a defender miss on a 24-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to help Lone Star build a 14-0 lead. His second score came on a designed run, but the way he shed would-be tacklers on a 46-yard burst was anything but scripted — a sequence that drew comparisons to a young Michael Vick. Then, with the game still in reach for Reedy, Wright took off downfield on what looked like a casual stride and didn't stop for 51 yards. Final: Lone Star 56, Reedy 28.
Reedy's Lincoln Harn deserves credit for keeping the Lions competitive. He connected with Ben Francis on a fourth-down lob from the four-yard line to make it 14-7, then hit Aaron Niermann on a play-action strike to pull within a score. But Lone Star's offense never let Reedy fully close the gap. The Rangers' dominant performance earned them Texas Oncology Team of the Week honors.
