For the loyal fans who made the 5 hour trip down I-35, the dream of ending the season as state champions was very much alive as Faith Family came into this one as heavy favorites. With a starting lineup that dwarfed the starting 5 at Hirschi, it appeared to just be a formality. The Eagles got out to a good start as they worked inside out with J.T. Topping kicking the pass out to T.J. Caldwell for a 3 from the wing. Then they go back inside to Toppin as he drops in a short hook shot as they jump out to a 22-11 lead.
Then they turn defense to offense, Toppin with the steal and Caldwell takes it the other way - he gets the finish at the rim for 2 of a game-high 20 points. Hirschi would cut into the lead with Ernest Young getting inside for a much-needed basket but Faith Family with too many weapons - here they work it around the horn to Jimmel McFalls who knocks down the 3 from the wing.
Hirschi would counter with Ja'marion Carroll, he led the Huskies in scoring with 13 as head coach Brandon Thomas sees a rare defensive lapse but Faith Family would turn it up from there as Caldwell steps into the passing lane and takes it the other way for the highlight reel dunk as the Eagles are cruising! Then off this miss from the corner he puts the exclamation point on a 76-50 win. That seals their 2nd state championship in the last 4 years and for that dominant performance, Faith Family earns this week's Title Belt!
