Southlake Carroll at Rockwall Heath - 2021 Week 2 Football Highlights

Just a magnificent game Thursday night as Rockwall Heath took on Southlake Carroll for the Hawks home opener And, boy, were they ready for the Dragons. Indiana commit Josh Hoover launches one to Baylor commit, Josh Nabors (Neighbors) for a 58 yard touchdown. The Hawks led Southlake Carroll 21-3 mid 2nd quarter. The Dragons would get on the board before the half. Kaden Anderson with all day in the pocket and that's more then enough time for a receiver like Landon Samson to get open. That's a 72 yard score. Anderson threw for 354 yards and a couple scores but Heath led 21-10 at the break. Second half, Heath would lead by 18 on 2 separate occasions. Here Hoover connects with Fletcher Fierro (Fee-AIR-oh) on a 24 yard diving touchdown. Hoover threw for 344 yards and 3 scores. Hawks would lead 28-10 But never count out the Carroll Dragons. Anderson to that man again, Samson. The South Carolina commit with 8 catches for 153 yards. Southlake Carroll were only down 35-30 going into the 4th.

Play of the game. 4th and 12, no timeouts left and in their own territory, the Dragons dial up a screen to Owen Allen who has nothing but blockers in front of him. It goes for 50 yards and into the red zone. What a gutsy call with 5 minutes to play. That sets up Allen running it in from the 1. They miss the 2 point conversion, but lead 36-35 with just over 3 min left. Heath takes it all the way down field, but with 3 seconds left, their 29 yard field goal attempt is BLOCKED by Calder Bray. Southlake Carroll with the comeback victory 36-35 and for that game-saving play, Bray and the Dragon defense will receive this week's Title Belt! ...More to come on that in the coming weeks.
