Sarod Baker Becomes DeSoto's All-Time Rushing Leader in 28-7 Win Over Lancaster

October 13, 2026
Sarod Baker became DeSoto's all-time leading rusher in a 28-7 district win over rival Lancaster, capping a big night with a 54-yard TD run.

It took a short drive down the road for DeSoto to make a little history. The Eagles traveled to Lancaster for a district matchup between two longtime rivals Friday night, and by the time it was over, Sarod Baker had rewritten the DeSoto record books.

Lancaster struck first when Tigers quarterback Joseph Hairston felt the pressure, tucked the ball, and stretched his frame across the goal line on a scramble to put Lancaster on the board early.

DeSoto answered quickly. Baker faked a run, pulled up, and launched a 78-yard touchdown strike to Wyatt Davis, who slipped behind the defense and never looked back. Just like that, the Eagles were on the board.

The DeSoto defense got in on the scoring next. Rickshown Hanks brought down the Lancaster ball carrier and jarred the ball loose, and Quentin Billings was right there to scoop it up and take it to the house. Eagles led 14-7.

Then came the moment that will live in DeSoto lore. Baker took a handoff, burst through the line, ran through two defenders, and cruised 54 yards to the end zone — a run that made him the all-time leading rusher in DeSoto High School history. The milestone capped a dominant performance as the Eagles pulled away for a 28-7 district victory over Lancaster.
